Volunteers make valuable
contributions to the special people who live at Lubbock State
School as well as valuable contributions to their own lives.
Individual involvement:
Council
member – Operates in a capacity of sharing
information with the community, assisting with fund raising,
and enhancing special events for the clients
Recreation
– games, swimming, activities and Special Olympics
training
Enrichment programs – music, individual attention
reading, talking or listening to music together
Residential
homes – assisting with activities planned for
specific homes
Religious
services – assisting Chaplain with worship
services
Togetherness Activities:
Landscaping – planting & maintaining beds
Campus
events – special monthly dances and social
events
Holiday
activities – hosting seasonal parties, assisting
with gift giving or wrapping
Fund
raising – “Sunny Days” golf tournament,
food booths at South Plains Fair

Volunteers must clear a criminal background check, the Nurses
Aid Registry and Employee Misconduct Registry checks.
